Jane.com
Anything but Plain.
Reframing "Plain Jane" for a fashion-forward audience.
Jane.com is a fashion marketplace built around discovery, individuality, and accessible style. As part of a new business pitch, the goal was to develop a campaign concept that could capture the brand's potential-something distinctive, ownable, and creatively compelling enough to stand out.
This concept explores how a bold, idea-led platform could position Jane.com as a destination for personal style and self-expression.
The Challenge
Develop a standout campaign concept under tight timelines that could demonstrate a clear creative point of view and elevate the brand beyond expected ecommerce conventions.
At the time, Jane.com's digital presence felt generic and transactional, with little distinction in a saturated fashion landscape. The opportunity was to introduce a more confident, idea-led direction-shifting the brand from something functional to something expressive, and redefining how it could show up visually and culturally.
My Role
Led the creative direction for a new business pitch, developing a concept-driven campaign platform from the ground up. Defined the core idea, messaging, and visual language-creating a cohesive and elevated direction designed to stand out and capture attention.
Translated an open-ended brief into a clear, ownable creative solution, guiding the work from initial concept through execution under tight timelines, while establishing a distinct point of view for how the brand could evolve.
The Approach
The approach centered on developing a clear, ownable idea that could anchor the campaign. "Anything But Plain" established a strong point of view-simple, memorable, and flexible enough to scale-while creating space to reimagine the brand's aesthetic. The direction shifted away from a transactional ecommerce feel toward something more aspirational and style-driven, introducing a stronger sense of taste and identity.
This came to life through a more elevated, fashion-forward visual language inspired by an emerging "it girl" sensibility-polished, effortless, and inherently confident-bringing a level of style and cultural relevance that set the brand apart from more generic competitors.
Impact
The concept was developed and presented as part of a new business pitch, introducing a clear and differentiated creative direction for the brand. The work demonstrated how a more elevated, style-driven approach could reshape Jane.com's identity-bringing a stronger sense of taste and relevance to the overall brand experience.
